Joséphine Baker, the musical

Anaïs Hubert plays the role of Josephine's mother, alternating with Naomi Jean Romain, and also understudies the lead role.

The special “50th anniversary” version of the show Josephine Baker, the musical pays tribute to the famous artist's passing while celebrating her triumphant return to Bobino 50 years earlier.

Written and composed by Jean-Pierre Hadida, this show retraces, through 12 artists on stage, the extraordinary life of JosephineBaker: born in 1906 in Missouri, married at 13, she became an icon of Paris in the Roaring Twenties, then a resistance fighter and activist against racism.

The production combines songs, dances, and flamboyant paintings to evoke her loves, her companions, and her humanist commitment, until her entry into the Pantheon in 2021.

Scheduled for 80 performances until January 25, the show celebrates the life of a free, courageous, and universal woman, a symbol of struggle, art, and fraternity.
