The play depicts three characters: Alex, Tim, and Marianne, who love each other, are moved by each other, betray each other, and lose themselves together. They are young people on a deeply unsettling quest for identity, and they are unsettled. The play recounts the story of the tragic event and how they came to be in that situation. The play is constructed in echoes and reflections of what it attempts to name. It is divided into three parts. The first: OVERVIEW, the second: MANIC, and the third: NOTHINGNESS. Each symbolizes a phase of Alex's illness. Alex is bipolar, and his condition leads to his downfall, which pushes the others to bring out the monster within them.
