DNSPC class of 2025

Every year, I am invited to write a foreword to introduce the graduating class.

This “word from the director” serves to recall the events experienced by the group during their three years of study and to wish them a successful start to their careers.

This task seems delicate to me today.

How, indeed, can we offer reassuring prospects to these passionate and exciting young actors and actresses when the noose is tightening around a profession whose foundations have been weakened by arbitrary budget cuts and accusations of uselessness and lack of profitability?

How can we assert that the complexity of the poetic language we develop on our stages is useful in resisting the narrowing of the field of thought, harassed by slogans and untruths? We must have faith... And these actors and actresses, who are still learning, give us that faith every day.

Their unwavering commitment and enthusiasm in the various creative workshops they have attended with Alexandra Badea, Arnaud Churin, Eddy D'Aranjo, Margaux Eskenazi, Jean Massé, Pauline Laidet, Camille Dagen, Vincent Dissez, Jacques Vincey, Lena Paugam, and Guillaume Cayet on powerful writing and themes, sweep away any pessimistic projections.

For their graduation show, the class reunites with Lena Paugam, with whom they have enjoyed a wonderful working relationship since their first year at school.

She takes them on a journey with a project on the theme of public cultural spaces, based on the investigative book Des pauvres à la bibliothèque (The Poor at the Library), convinced, like us, that theater has a fundamental role to play in social reconciliation.
